Drew has been at Tesla since 2006 and has grown along with the company, developing depth in system architecture and modeling, firmware development, electronics, thermal systems, power electronics, system engineering of vehicle and energy products, and engineering leadership for product development from concept to manufacturing for Powerwall and Powerpack. His current focus is the leadership of two efforts: Tesla’s core technology engineering organization developing new lithium ion batteries, motors, power electronics, and drive units, and the engineering organization for Tesla’s energy products. Prior to joining Tesla, Drew received a BS in Electrical Engineering from Stanford with an honors in environmental science and public policy and worked at Resources for the Future, an energy and environment economics think tank in Washington, DC, where he focused on transportation policy analysis.
